The Annual RISE Nashville Summit is known as the premier conference for all things risk adjustment, data analytics and quality, and their best-practice sessions are second to none. This year’s event was teeming with representatives from healthcare organizations focused on finding cutting-edge quality measurement and risk adjustment solutions to help them successfully make the seismic shift from fee-for-service to value-based care.

The evidence of this search could be seen in the more than 200 RISE attendees who packed the room to hear Talix’s Shahyan Currimbhoy, senior vice president of product management and engineering, and Geisinger Health Plan’s (GHP) Karena Weikel, ASA, FAHM, CSFS, vice president of risk and revenue management, present a well-received session called “Risk Adjustment Coding: Leveraging Data Analytics Tools to Drive Coder Accuracy and Efficiency.”  During the session, the duo discussed the critical role accurate risk adjustment plays in the success of both health plans and providers as the industry continues to transition to value-based care.

They also shared a case study of the dramatic results Geisinger Health Plan has achieved to date using Talix’s Coding InSight solution and explained how the health plan implemented our advanced analytics tools – leveraging natural language understanding, a health taxonomy and clinical rules – to successfully improve their coding practices and productivity.

Watch the video to see what our presenters had to say about the key challenges and best practices for leveraging data analytics in risk adjustment programs:
